Before You Get Started: Important Safety Checks

Before connecting any gas bottle, take a moment to check the following:

  • Make sure the appliance is switched off

  • Check you have the correct regulator for the bottle

  • Ensure the bottle valve and regulator connection are clean and undamaged

  • Never connect or disconnect a regulator while the gas is switched on

  • Always use gas bottles in well‑ventilated areas

If anything looks damaged or doesn’t feel right, stop and seek advice before continuing.

Setting Up Patio Gas (Clip‑On Regulator)

Patio gas bottles use a 27mm clip‑on regulator and are commonly used for BBQs and patio heaters.

Before Connecting

  • Confirm you have a 27mm clip‑on regulator

  • Check the top of the gas bottle valve is clean

  • There is no protective cap on patio gas bottles, so cleanliness is important

How to Connect

  1. Make sure the regulator switch is in the off position

  2. Place the regulator squarely over the bottle valve

  3. Press down firmly until you hear a clear click

  4. Turn the regulator switch anti‑clockwise to switch the gas on

After Use

  • Turn the regulator switch clockwise to the off position

  • Always turn the gas off when the appliance is not in use

How to Disconnect

  1. Turn the regulator switch to off

  2. If the flame does not go out, leave the appliance running and seek advice

  3. Press the release button and lift the regulator off the bottle

Setting Up Propane Gas Bottles (Screw‑On Regulator)

  • Have a suitable spanner ready

How to Connect

  1. Turn the bottle valve clockwise to ensure it is fully closed

How to Disconnect

  1. Turn the bottle valve off (clockwise)

  2. Wait until all burners or pilot lights have gone out
